Erskine 100 Symposium

When: 28 Feb
1.00 pm - 6.30 pm

Location: Chalmers University of Technology, Johanneberg Campus in Kårhuset’s Palmstedt Hall, Göteborg

Chalmers Architecture celebrates the work of Ralph Erskine with a symposium Friday, marking the 100-year of his birth. The speakers at the symposium are Professor Peter Blundell Jones (University of Sheffield), Architect, Partner Mats Egelius (White Architects), and Professor Emeritus Claes Caldenby (Chalmers University of Technology).

Ralph Erskine was one of the most important 20th century architects in Sweden. He was at the forefront of the architectural development with an environmental design approach and progressive social commitment.

Erskine was also associated with Team 10 and became internationally known for his in-depth research on sustainable building in extreme climatic settings. The architectural challenges he addressed are still of great importance, and his work continues to be an inspiration to architects and urban planners.

There is no entrance fee or registration required. The symposium is co-organized with the Strong Research Environment: Architecture in the Making, which is supported by FORMAS.
