Inauguration of Tele2 Arena

Last Saturday evening, Tele2 Arena was inaugurated by near 40,000 people who got to experience Sweden’s foremost artists Robyn, Lars Winnerbäck and Kent on the same stage.

The inauguration party started earlier in the day when thousands of locals and visitors had gathered in the Globen area to see the performances and meet Djurgården football and hockey teams, Hammarby Fotball and AIK Hockey. Sten Nordin, Mayor, and Madeleine Sjöstedt, Vice Mayor Culture and Real Estate Division, City of Stockholm, cut the ribbon and declared the arena inaugurated together with Ninna Engberg, CEO Stockholm Globe Arenas. Also present were Monica von Schmalensee and Fredrik Källström, Lead architects for Tele2 Arena.

“After more than ten years of work, it is time for us to let go of the arena. The architecture and the vision of an asymmetrical shape, transparency and the Nordic light were given free reign throughout the project, which has been pivotal to the result we see today. It is with pride that we now present Tele2 Arena to the audience,” says Monica von Schmalensee , CEO of White and one of the Lead architects for Tele2 Arena.
