White designs Stockholm Arena for 2012

“The City of Stockholm’s decision for a new multifunctional arena near to the Globe arena will make it possible to attract more world-famous artists to Sweden’s leading events area. We will also be able to hold Swedish derbies and international football matches. The Stockholm Arena will be a world-class arena,” says Mats Grönlund, recently appointed CEO of Stockholm Arena AB, in a comment on the city council’s decision on 8 September 2008.

White is designing the new arena along with WSP Sweden and ArupSport, who have been responsible for the design and function of a number of international arenas, including the Olympic Bird’s Nest arena in Peking.

Also this year we are nominated with two projects for World Architecture Festival in Barcelona in November. Youth Centre – The Satellite in Sollentuna and Southend Pier in Southend-On-Sea.

From 2011 Monica von Schmalensee will be the new CEO for White arkitekter AB, which is Scandinavia’s leading architectural practice and among the ten largest in Europe.

White wins competition to redevelop Southend Pier in England
