Uppsala Consert & Congress.
Great flexibility and lots of attitude permeates right through Uppsala’s new Konsert & Kongress venue. The building is inspirational with interior design that matches both the architecture and the variable activities.
After years of enquiries, Uppsala finally got its concert hall. A building of character for an Uppsala that is looking to the future, and open to a diversity of activities. The building was designed by Henning Larsens Tegnestue of Copenhagen, something which came about because the municipality announced a public architecture competition for a concert hall in Uppsala. The facility is now one of the foremost venues in Sweden for concerts, congresses and conferences, with its high capacity and its geographical location.
The interior design is characterised by four key words: daring, open, functional and innovative. Working closely with the business operation, White has blended the interior with the building’s architecture and activities. The building is a living, variable meeting place in which the carefully considered furnishings express flexibility, functionality and a stimulating attitude that just sets fire to the imagination. The interior reflects the façade with its interplay of glossy and matt surfaces, distinct contrasts and strong accent colours. The environment feels lively and dynamic, and completely in step with the external circumstances.
