Southend Pier Cultural Centre shortlisted for the Surface Design Awards 2013

Southend Pier Cultural Centre by White arkitekter and Sprunt has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Public Building Exterior category in the Surface Design Awards 2013.

Launched to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Surface Design Show, the awards recognise progressive surface solutions for the built environment. Sited at the end of a 1.34 mile-long pier, Southend Pier Cultural Centre features durable surface materials, including Glass Reinforced Plastic cladding and insulated marine plywood decking covered with a waterproof membrane, to help achieve a long expected lifespan under hostile conditions.

The category winner will be announced on the final day of the Surface Design Show, which takes place on 5-7 February 2013 at the Business Design Centre in London.
