Everybody is talking about sustainability. If we believe architecture can make the world a better place, we as architects have a responsibility to do something, not just today but for many generations to come. We believe creativity is the answer. And to use teams with complementary skills and experience. Together we create solutions for today that will work in the future.
In it for the long run
Projects based on a short-term gain lacking a long-term perspective can never succeed. Our approach is different. We create solutions that are meant to outlast our generation. Designs that not only stand the test of time but also include a long-term responsibility. We will continue to push the frontier of what can be done and pro-actively drive the sustainability agenda.
Do more than the expected
Compensating for climate change is reactive, and will not provide for real change. We need to be proactive, creating positive values for the environment and for society as a whole. There is a lot to be done here, but if we are to be serious about this, there is no alternative.
Multidisciplinary teams yield results
In an increasingly complex world the role of the architect requires collaboration across many disciplines and a full understanding of the whole process, from planning to completion as well as the construction and management phases. We avoid working in silos and achieve an integrated approach by building multidisciplinary teams, supporting the architect and the building engineer with anthropologists, economists, ecologists and building conservation specialists.
Walk the talk
Delivering sustainable projects is not enough. We believe in living as we preach. As an office we carbon off-set all of our trips and choose sustainable modes of transport whenever possible. In some of our offices we carbon offset all our energy usage. Awareness of the environmental impact of our everyday life and how we can change the world by how we live, is guiding us every day. We strive to uphold our principles in our choice of suppliers, from the paper we stock to the fruit and coffee we consume.
